get to know us

We are a proud farm family with a passion for agriculture and a commitment to our community.  Coming from a long line of farmers on all sides of the family, farming isn’t just a job or a hobby; it’s a way of life.

The Robinson family has been raising livestock in Meyersburg for over 40 years.  It began with one small farm and has since grown to include 2 other properties nearby.

In the early 80’s, my parents, John and Cathy, built their home on one corner of my aunt and uncle’s farm.  That quiet little dead end road was the perfect place to grow up, and I’m so very thankful to have spent my childhood there.

My name is Amanda Twigg and I knew from a very early age that I had a passion for animals and decided to turn that passion into a career.  I graduated from the University of Guelph in 2007, with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, and have worked in agricultural sales since then.  I’ve also spent the last five years as the Dairy Educator for Northumberland County.  This role means that I visit schools within our county and teach students about the importance of agriculture and the vital role farmers play in our communities.

My husband, Jonathan, and I knew this is where we wanted to raise our family.  We now live just one road over from the main farm, with our two children, Colby and Lyla.  And this community is still the perfect place to grow up, with wonderful neighbours and family nearby.

My Dad is the other driving force behind this expansion of our farm business.  He has spent his whole life working in construction, owning his own company for almost 30 years, and employing Jonathan for the last 15.  Around here, farming is nobody’s full-time job and everybody’s part-time job.

I’m thankful for all the opportunities I’ve had in this industry, and my experiences have made it very clear to me that being a positive advocate for farming is a huge part of who I am.  I love sharing my passion for agriculture, and hope to continue to do so through Robin’s Nest Farm.
